The Golden Goose Egg Level

Friday Follow

I really haven't posted since Tuesday? Really? That seems like just yesterday, and here we are back at Friday Follow, and I almost forgot to post at all. Work has been keeping me busy, though not as busy as I like, and making the days fly by even faster. So I find myself at FF, again.

I love all the new blogs I have run across through FF, I don't, however, love all the non personal blogs I have found. Does that make sense? I am all for giveaways and paid posts to make some money, (wish I could get to do some!!) but I hate to see a blog that is no longer a personal outlet and is consumed with marketing  posts. I would love to do some giveaways, and God knows, I would LOVE to make some money here! But my blog is most importantly my personal outlet. My own little corner of the world where I can say whatever the hell I want and if you don't like it-DON"T READ ME!! Simple as that.

OK, that being said, I would like to welcome all the owners of said "marketing only" blogs to stop following me. Not that I want you to stop following me, just that you are welcome to stop if you want. You see, it's only fair as I didn't follow you back on previous Follow Fridays. The first FF I participated in I followed everyone back  no matter what, in the spirit of  playing by the rules. Then as weeks went on I became rebellious. I followed blogs of people who are talking and sharing as I do, and skipped the rest. I have no interest in weeding through all that commercial crap in my reader, so I can get to the blogs that actually have something to say.

I am not immune to the lure of entering a contest (wish I would win one!), and really wish I could figure out how to make this blog more profitable, so far I am at the 'golden goose egg' level of monetization.  But this blog will remain my voice. Eventually something will click. I invite everyone to keep on with the comments. I read and love them all. I get so excited to see them, so keep it up please! So hopefully I don't get banned from future Friday Follows for not following everyone back, but at least I'm honest about it. Talk to you all soon.....

  1. Don't feel too bad hon, I don't follow blogs that are all pitch and freebies over a human touch. I have one or two that the person running them actually comes by and communicates with me, or interjects themselves a bit into the blog, but anything that's completely sold out to the man FUHGETABOUTITEH! ;)
I also cheat and follow anonymously until I know that person isn't going to run screaming into the woods once they actually read MY blog.
It happens, but it also weeds out the people who aren't really interested in your blog, but rather just gaining followers.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one tired of seeing zombie blogs.

  5. Adrienne,

I love your spunk sweet lady! The pictures of you and your children are adorable. I started my blog a month ago as an outlet for me just as you have. I think it is admirable that you want people to actually read your blog rather than just to post a ...I am following you comment and be gone!

  6. LOL! I did a post about this not too long ago, and lost a few followers. I did a giveaway because I was contacted, but I'm fine with doing maybe one once a month. I"m with ya, I like more personal blogs than the commercial type. I like you, wished I made money writing as well.
With that being said, I organized such blogs into one folder and labeled them giveaways. that way, I can just "mark them all as read" on my reader.
