The Golden Goose Egg Level

Friday Follow

I really haven't posted since Tuesday? Really? That seems like just yesterday, and here we are back at Friday Follow, and I almost forgot to post at all. Work has been keeping me busy, though not as busy as I like, and making the days fly by even faster. So I find myself at FF, again.

I love all the new blogs I have run across through FF, I don't, however, love all the non personal blogs I have found. Does that make sense? I am all for giveaways and paid posts to make some money, (wish I could get to do some!!) but I hate to see a blog that is no longer a personal outlet and is consumed with marketing  posts. I would love to do some giveaways, and God knows, I would LOVE to make some money here! But my blog is most importantly my personal outlet. My own little corner of the world where I can say whatever the hell I want and if you don't like it-DON"T READ ME!! Simple as that.

OK, that being said, I would like to welcome all the owners of said "marketing only" blogs to stop following me. Not that I want you to stop following me, just that you are welcome to stop if you want. You see, it's only fair as I didn't follow you back on previous Follow Fridays. The first FF I participated in I followed everyone back  no matter what, in the spirit of  playing by the rules. Then as weeks went on I became rebellious. I followed blogs of people who are talking and sharing as I do, and skipped the rest. I have no interest in weeding through all that commercial crap in my reader, so I can get to the blogs that actually have something to say.

I am not immune to the lure of entering a contest (wish I would win one!), and really wish I could figure out how to make this blog more profitable, so far I am at the 'golden goose egg' level of monetization.  But this blog will remain my voice. Eventually something will click. I invite everyone to keep on with the comments. I read and love them all. I get so excited to see them, so keep it up please! So hopefully I don't get banned from future Friday Follows for not following everyone back, but at least I'm honest about it. Talk to you all soon.....

Yay!! It's working- Post it note Tuesday

I got home and quickly got some quesadillas and applesauce on the table for HM. I fed the cat, and thought- WOW- it's post it note Tuesday and I'm gonna  make it for the first time ever. I love those little sticky notes, but always forget to participate.  So I run over to Busymom's blog to get the link to Supah Mommy's blog, and that dam link is misbehaving. So now all of you get to see what I saw just cuz I'm cool like that! Anyway, I'm super disappointed I can't do post it note Tuesday. I was in the kitchen thinking of all these cool little things to say on them, like-

Dear HM-I swear getting dressed will be over faster if YOU JUST STAND STILL!!

SPF, are you able to talk without asking me for something?

Libby, why do you cry like you are starving when you still have dry food left?

Bra straps-STAY PUT!

I know I gained a little weight, but will you please button anyway?

Not nearly as cute when it's not on those  little colored post it notes, is it? Oh well, maybe I'll make it next week. Problem is, there are so many cute things like this in the blog world, it's hard to keep up. I am constantly finding fun things, leave a post promising to return and participate, then I forget. So if you have one of those blogs I posted something like that on, I was sincere, feel free to refresh my memory. (Hey, that could have been a post it note too, ....)

Now a side note, that really is not a side note, SPF had a dental check up today and we are at zero cavities. Yay SPF!!!

Doing Something Right

Many of you know I recently went back to work after being laid off since December. You also know I work in construction, a male dominated world. Well I am in need of a new pair of work boots-not an easy thing to find with a size 7 woman's foot.

My current boots are a pair of  Timberland Pro, and they are made for women, cute, and were super comfortable-for about a week. I know things are different when I spend 8 hours on my feet walking an unfinished concrete construction site, but when I take off my boots it takes hours for the feeling to come back to my pinkie toes. So when I (finally) started to see the titanium toes through the leather, I started my journey for the next pair.

The few times I have found women's work boots in the stores, they are overpriced, and uncomfortable. Then I ran across these boots and my heart skipped a beat! I am a little  hesitant because buying online you can't try them on, but being designed by a woman for a woman is promising. Plus they're so dam cute! So I have been debating with myself do I buy the pink, or go with the conservative tan ones? (I may work construction but I am a girly girl and love to express my feminine side even in that masculine role.) Then I got the best advice from SPF. She told me to stop worrying what anybody else may think of me wearing pink work boots, and be true to myself-buy the pair I like the best. I must be doing something right with that girl. I mean really-that's about the best advice I could have got.

Isn't it amazing watching our kids metamorphis right in front of our eyes?

Another Award & Friday Follow

Friday Follow

I won another award, and it's just in time for Friday Follow!! OK, the timing didn't go down quite that smooth, but for once I am late enough to actually be early. Don't you just love that? SO, to be completely honest I received the award from Steph last Friday. I of course being so tired this week did not have the energy to properly receive it until today.

If you want to see a seriously cute set of twins, go check out  Steph's blog. It's a good blog, even after you get past the cuteness factor of her kids. She is a good writer, she is creative, and has a handsome family. We are new friends in the blog world, and another big THANK YOU for my newest award that I will display proudly.

Like all good awards in the blog world, it has a chain letter quality to it, and it's own set of rules for accepting. (Hence the too tired to accept it problem) The requirements for accepting this blog award are:

- link back to the blogger who sent me this award

- post where I would like to be in 10 years

- pass it on to 10 awesome bloggers

Where would I like to be in ten years? Married, with no more (new) kids! I know, I'm just like the rest of you- as soon as I see some sweet little newborn I want another. They're just so darn cute, and we forget what monsters they become around 2. OK, back to me. Yes married. That sounds nice. Also I will be finished with the electrical apprenticeship, so I will be a journey(wo)man making the big bucks. I will be a happy mom with happy kids. Beyond that-it's foggy. But that's sounds pretty good to me.

Keeping in the spirit of who passed it to me, I am giving it randomly to 10 of my new followers from last Friday. And the winners are:

And an extra special welcome to all of my new followers, thank you for following me. Link up below to take part in another Friday Follow

Tackle it Tuesday 2-16-10

I need to write, I made a commitment to myself to keep up. Yet I find myself at a loss for words, don't worry-I never shut up for long! I'm just so tired, so so tired. Here I find myself again at Tackle it Tuesday, but I see some of you are already posting Wordless Wednesday. Dam overachievers How will I ever keep up?

Today I tackled an 8 hour shift of hard labor ( hard for me anyway) , then I fought traffic to pick up the kids, went to the grocery store, slaved over a hot drive through window to put dinner on the table (something I rarely do), fought the bedtime battle with HM, and am managing to post as well. If I weren't so exhausted, I might actually feel accomplished today. But really the highlight of my day?.... The glass of red wine I am sipping as I write this.

So that was my Tackle it Tuesday post, now maybe I can get a Wordless Wednesday up before the weekend. I love my blog, I love this outlet, I truly do. I am determined to keep it up. I know it may seem like such a piece of cake to some of you, for me, it's hard- I have alot of plates in the air right now. But that's OK. My life is good.

Saturday Sleep

Ok, there is Tackle it Tuesday, Friday Follow, Wordless Wednesday, etc., so can I just have a Saturday Sleep? Or how about Sleeping on Saturday, or Sleepy Saturday? Yeah, that one sounds best, Sleepy Saturday. Can you tell I'm tired yet?

I got rehired Thursday, and they needed me for a swing shift Friday night, and a day shift today. I am exhausted! Not only am I out of shape from not working for 2 months, but working Friday night made me somewhat dilerious. I'm sure the yoga class I took Friday morning didn't help either.

So that's all I have to say, I'm gonna go plop back on the couch right after I extend the follow to all my new followers from Friday Follow. (I think there were a few too many follows in that sentence-WOW, I am tired!!!)

I Got a Job Today!!

Friday Follow

Some of you may have known I have been unemployed. I work in construction (still a newbie), and jobs come and go quite often. Well I went back to work today, actually I'm not really working untill tomorrow, but I got hired today.

I belong to a union, and jobs are dispatched through them. It's a fair system- when you get laid off your name goes to the bottom of the list, and you work your way to the top as the people ahead of you go to work. The Contractors don't have alot of choice who they hire, it's mostly a matter of whose name comes up. (With some exceptions of corse.) Funny thing is, I got dispatched today to a company I used to work for. I was so irritated by how they ran their company  really loved working there, and was ready to strangle this one A-hole everyone I worked with was great. So I am happy today.

Now here comes the challenge, keeping up with my blog on work nights. The kids are in bed around 8pm, and I should  follow right behind them. I have to leave my house by 5:15am to get to the job sight by 6am. So I figure I can sleep 8:30pm-4:30am? Doesn't leave me much alone time with my computer. Going back to work is always a challenge. Trying to figure out when to cook, clean, sleep, shower, etc.. But this time I am determined to not only keep up with my blog, but with my blog reading and commenting as well. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

How do you working moms out there keep up with your blog writing and reading?

Tackling My post

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

It's one of those days. Well, scratch that, it's apparently one of those few days. I just have not felt like blogging. Not really wanting to be bothered with it. So For my tackle it Tuesday (and it's still Tuesday in Seattle.) I am posting.

I don't have much to say, but I will share a little funny, courtesy of SPF. Tonight I cut her hair, it was just  supposed to be a trim. Well, I ended up where one side was longer than the other, so in my attempts to even it out, I made the oh so common mistake of going too short. Shorter than I thought she would like it anyway, it's actually quite cute. But who am I to judge, I'm her mom! Anyway, she loved it. She has a little fro, cute curls, and it's totally manageable.

Now being a mom to two "mixed" kids, I want my children to be proud of their heritages. Both the black, and the white sides. SPF has gorgeous hair, but it's type is not loved by all. It's hard to deal with sometimes, but when taken care of and styled correctly, it can't be beat!

Well, we have a another white friend with a "mixed" daughter, and she has always been compulsive about her daughters hair, where as I just kind-of let SPF do her own thing. If she wants to rock a fro, I let her rock a fro. Let's call my friend Jane. Tonight  SPF informed me about how beautiful her curls are, and I said yes, that's why I don't subscribe to the same school of thought as Jane and straighten your hair. To this she replied "Jane went to school where they make you straighten your hair?" (Do I get one of those corny joke drum rolls?)

Fixing My Scale

Friday Follow

Today I have decided I am fixing my scale. Those of you who have been keeping up, I am doing what so many of you are probably doing too.....dieting. Unfortunately, it hasn't been working for me. Granted I have not been exercising, but in the past, low carb was always enough for me.

I swear, I think my metabolism is crashing. My temp is never above 97, unless I have a fever-then it gets all the way up to 99! I recently found out that's a classic sign for a sluggish thyroid. Of course tests in the past have shown mine is fine, but heard those tests are pretty unreliable. I also went on Depo-provera a year ago, but after watching myself put on 15 pounds (plus I'm single) I decided to get off of it a few months back. Could that be thwarting my weight loss efforts? Also I'm not working, going from physically intensive work, to nada, can't be good. Either way, here I am dieting for the last month, and down all of maybe 4 pounds! Ouch!

Now what do they say the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well, today I am doing something different. I am going to switch my eating plan to YOU-on a diet. My dad gave me the book by Dr. Oz (actually I think we traded or something) a couple years ago. It is such a great sounding long term plan, but I am always after the quick fix. It worked for him, and it's how I feed my kids (usually),  so here I go. Let's hope this one works!

Wordless Wednesday Broken Scale & Girl's Night Out

This is a pic of my scale that is apparently broken. I have been dieting for weeks now. 3 or 4 weeks strictly low carb, now switched to Carbohydrate Addict's diet for the past 5 days or so, and my weight loss has been less than stellar. I initially lost about 6 pounds, but have allready put 2 back on. It must be the scale! LOL!

This is me and SPF having a girls night. Grandma graciously took HM to give me a little break and some much needed alone time with SPF. I know it's a horrible pic, but give me a break. I'm sick and have no make-up on, happens to the best of us.

My beautiful award

Imagine my surprise when I was left a comment from Joe at 20 to life  saying she had something for me on her blog. What could it be? I wondered. So I had to go see......IT WAS THE SUNSHINE AWARD!! I am so honored.

I would like to thank the little people in my life (my kids) who made this all possible! If it weren't for your potty successes, your cross dressing, and your demon possession I would have nothing to blog about. I would like to thank my crazy mind that has given myself only two choices; either throw my kids out the window go insane , or,  find humor in life's ups and downs then write about it. Luckily I have chosen the latter.

Now I get the lucky job of honoring 12 other bloggers with this endearing award. Gee, now that I think about it, it's kind-of like a chain award. Will something bad happen if I break the chain? I dare not find out! In the words of the much respected Mr. T (am I dating myself?) "I pity da fool who breaks this chain!" (That was Mr. T wasn't it?)  LOL!! And no, I am not, and was never an A team fan, that just popped in my head and I had myself sillily laughing out loud-so I thought I would share.  But I wouldn't break the chain if I were you.....

Today was a good day

Today started like any other day, me giving into my obsessive tendencies and cleaning like a mad woman, and the kids messing like, well...., kids. I do have to give SPF credit today, as she did do an awesome job cleaning her room-even if it only stayed that way for 5 minutes! The day started out somewhat hectic, but in the end we had a fun day.

HM got in touch with his feminine side:

Oh he's gonna hate me for those pics! So cute I couldn't resist. Then we went to the park:

Then to the mall to finally stuff the bears the kids got from their great uncle for Christmas:

But  apparently the high heels were quite a workout, because HM didn't exactly make it to the bear stuffing part:

But he was delighted to see the finished result and raid SPF's drawer full of B.B.W. clothes:

Yes, today was a good day.
