Stats

I just looked at the new(er) tab on my blogger dashboard..STATS. That is really cool in a totally blogger geek kind-of way. I got see where are all my stalkers live! LOVE IT!!

It shows me everything. OK, not everything...no winning lotto numbers, no hints as to what to cook for dinner that my toddler might eat, no top secret weight loss methods, but everything as far as blog stats.

I got to see when I was being viewed, from what countries, on what operating system, even the devices used. Then they made it complete by adding little pie graph pictures to everything, (I like pictures).  I'm sure to all you techs out there, this is old news, but to me-it's brand new. I was wowed.

And no, this is NOT a review for Blogger, or Google, or anyone else. Just a little thing I found that has probably been on my dashboard for months that I am just now discovering. So check out your little tab, you might like it too...Happy Blogging  :)

I wanna drag you face across the floor...

Tonight, like any other night, I am seated on HM's bed reading the chosen story book, and having our goodnight moments. I finish reading, and cram my big butt next to him on his toddler bed, laying with him for some extra cuddle time. We were sharing his ladybug pillow pet, and he was squeezing me extra tight making me smile.

There we lay, and he says to me "Mom, I wanna drag your face across the floor." "WHAT?" I try not to yell. I pull my head out of his death grip around my neck and look at him puzzled. Now I don't know if it's because he sensed my dismay and is old enough (3 & 1/2) for a quick cover, or if this is what he meant all along....He proceeds to tell me " I wanna drag your face across the floor so you can never leave my room cuz I love you and you are my best buddy ever!" "sigh" is all that is heard from me. Then a "I love you too my little sugar bump." I proceed to tuck him in, give him a million more goodnight kisses and quietly exit his room.

I don't know if it was the relief I from hearing his sweet words after his mean ones, or if I am just that much wrapped around his finger; but I can honestly say I didn't even question how the whole dragging my face across the floor fit in to loving me so much until I wrote this post. How funny. I gotta give him points (yet again) for originality. Well gotta go, gotta wash all that dust off my face...I haven't vacuumed in awhile!! :)

More Words...

I have been procrastinating long enough...it's time to write. I have no idea what to say, but by the end of this post-some kind of words will lay themselves down here.

I was laid off last week, so I have found myself with some extra time. I wasn't surprised to get laid off, I was expecting it. I also wasn't so disapointed for a little time off. But I am now ready to go back to work, and hopefully will next week. I work through a referal union, so it  takes the stress out of finding a job, it finds me. NICE!! But my time off was interupted by me catching HM's cold...NOT NICE!!

I guess that's all I got right now...more will words come I am sure.

Old Men on The Street

SPF apparently takes after her mother in that she has my sarcastic sense of humour. OK, first, let me start this first post of 2011 properly by wishing you all a happy new year. May all of your hard work in years past pay off for you, may your love lives be peaceful, and may you and your family be healthy and well this wonderful 2011!!

Now back to the sarcasm I love so much....We were watching the new year's festivities from Times Square tonight when they interviewed New Kids on The Block. (Yes the same ones from early 90's.) My sweet little 9yo SPF says "New Kids on the Block? More like Old Men on the Street!" I thought I was gonna die! That girl is getting funnier and funnier every day! But she is completely right. Who told them and the Backstreet Boys to do a comeback anyway?

Later I asked her what her resolutions are. We had a brief discussion that included a description of what a resolution is. She then went on to tell me her new years resolutions are to not smoke, not drink beer, and not kill her brother. Yeah, that would be coming right from the mouth of my 9yo non smoking, non drinking, sweet daughter. She is a character!!

Kids are funny by nature, they have such a candid look on life, but SPF is cracking jokes! Yes I know all kids crack jokes, but she is saying stuff that is actually funny! Then of course she notices how funny I am finding her and then drives her jokes right into the ground, completely over does it. That's the 9yo sense of humour coming out I guess!

Why is There a Drill Bit In My Underware Drawer?

I recently moved (again-ughh!!), and yes, I really did find a drill bit in my underware drawer. Right after I heard myself saying this outloud in my head. (Is that even possible?) I thought- I gotta make that the tittle of a blog post. So here we are....

Get your mind out of the gutter, no I'm not into any weird kinky stuff, I just happened to find a random drill bit in my underware drawer of all places. I found it pretty funny, and had to share.

Vice President Biden.

I know It's not much of a pic, but here he is in Tacoma, WA last Friday morning. I got out of work early and was able to jam down there in time to hear him speak.

I like him, I like his speaking style. Yes he gets in trouble for saying whatever he feels like saying at the time- but that is precisely what I like about him. He is funny, witty, and seems like a down to earth kind of person that I can relate to. But then again, he is a politician. It is his job to make me feel that way.....

Positive Changes

So much has happened, my life has been a whirlwind of change. I feel that finally everything is coming together for me...

When we arrived home from our car trip a letter was awaiting me. The letter contained the start date for my apprenticeship. The electrical apprenticeship I have been waiting on for two years! The reason I uprooted my kids and moved them to Seattle, the schooling I expected to start long ago, is finally starting!

My next life changer-a move. A pretty far one, out of the city into the country. A house became available right across the street from my mom. Yes, that will create its own amount of challenges, but the good will far out weigh the bad!

Well I'm off to class, but much more to come, more positive changes to report.....

Roadtrip '10 post#3

"These are the cleanest stalls I've seen." Says SPF of the rest stop bathrooms behind them. Here they are watering each others feet before we get back in the car. This very clean rest stop is just south of the Oregon-California border on the I-5.

Roadtrip

I'm still  unable to work due to my hand surgeries, so I figured-what the heck; ROADTRIP! So off we went, to Las Vegas of course.

One of my long time friends and her daughter moved to San Jose a couple years back, so that is the fist destination on our way to the desert. She was there for the birth of HM and hasn't seen him much since. We are all SO excited to get there. Her daughter and SPF grew up like sisters, she misses her a lot.

Here is my attempt to blog on the road from my Droid. The pic is of us crossing the Washington - Oregon border.

Car lifesaver so far- the mp3 player loaded with picks from everyone set on shuffle!

Wish us a safe and happy trip down into San Jose. More posts to come....

Monster Spray

Once again it's been way too long since my last post. Let me see, surgery went well, matter of fact, my second surgery went well too. OK, with that out the way let's get on to more pressing business, my son....

My dad stayed with us this weekend to help after my last surgery, since our guest bed is in HM's room,  HM is sleeping in my bed. He of course is still getting up way too many times, with way too many excuses, as to why he can't sleep. Everything from having to potty, needing a cup, needing a hug, a monster is gonna get me, etc. etc., etc. So after sending him back to bed for what seemed like the millionth time, I told him to get the "monster spray" out of my bathroom for protection. I told him to spray it around the room a couple of times and hang on to it just in case. Hang on to it he did:

Yes that is the "monster spray" in his hand.

I guess it really does get rid of monsters! Ok, that's all. It hurts WAY to much to type so I probably shouldn't be doing it. I just had to share that super sweet pic on my blog.

Post Op Meds

I know it looks gross. Kind of freakish. Those of you who have seen prior posts know I have a condition called trigger finger. It causes my hands to catch when opening or closing, then to snap in place similar to a trigger mechanism.

I have been putting off surgery, have had numerous cortisone shots, and have generally been waiting (hoping) for it to go away on its own. Realising the pain was getting the best of me, I went back to my Dr. Friday and decided to schedule surgery. Well before I had a chance to iron out the details, I woke up on Sunday morning with a locked up finger. Totally stuck, can't even force it open with my other hand. So off to surgery I go asap. This Thursday to be exact.

Why am I sharing all this? It's my pre excuse. You see, I just left my pre op apt. and picked up my post op meds. Let me put it like this-if I can post, it's gonna be entertaining if nothing else!

No, I'm sharing because that's what us bloggers do. Especially when faced with challenges harder than most. Normally I would be nervous, but my pain is making me look forward to the relief I have been promised surgery will being. Ahh,......to have normal hands again!

Me Against the Clippers

So I started by giving HM a haircut. a real cute one I might add. It was a little skater do. Short on the sides and back, long on top. after cutting his hair it occurred to me how much cute and more professional it would look if I hit the underside with clippers.....

My first mistake, buying a cheap pair. I'm buzzing his hair with the longest attachment and its longer in some spots and shorter in others. I incorrectly assume its because I had cut it too short in some spots with the scissors.

My second mistake, on I go to the next shorter size attachment. Needless to say its still uneven. I'm still not getting it, and I continue on. Then the inevitable......HE MOVES!!!

Why at this point do I not stop and take him to the barber for an emergency repair? I don't know. I think I was caught up in the moment. It was me against the clippers and I was determined to win, at any cost, even at the cost of my son's hair apparently!

I kept buzzing, it kept cutting, shorter and shorter, smallest attachment, no attachment, then....NO HAIR!!!

So in this battle of wits against a machine, I guess I must admit defeat. I keep trying to justify it to myself-telling myself I'm not the first mom to do this. It's nice for summer.(Even tho I do live in cool Seattle) His hair grows fast, etc., etc., etc. WHATEVER!!!!

The truth is he looks like some neo Nazi skin head, cancer vic, army recruit. Oh well, he loves it. that's what counts. Have any of you moms done this to your kids? Please don't let me have the only haircut from hell story!

F*CK

Yeah I did it, you read that right. I named this post with a cuss word. A cuss word I apparently should say less often.

Last week I was putting HM down for bed and those stupid little toddler bed sheets kept coming off. So after the third or so time of them popping off and me having to fix them, I dropped the F bomb in shear frustration. I guess I made it sound extra fun to say, because HM decided to try it on for size. Getting no reaction from me he quickly got bored with the whole thing- so I thought....

The next day HM thought he would give it another shot, this time in the presence of SPF. She of course reacted in shock, part surprise, part why isn't he getting on trouble for that? No matter how much I told her to ignore it, she just couldn't leave it alone. I heard her all evening egging him on with things like "what did you say?"  "Say fork" and "I didn't hear you, say it louder.". She kept it up untill all I heard through our home was pitter patter of his little feet following his big sis around yelling "FUCK" " FUCK" in his sweet little toddler voice.  SPF being the typical older sis that she is, not skipping a beat- comes crying to me about how she is trying to read but it bothers her when "people"  cuss around her.

This sort of thing went on all night. As funny as it was, I didn't dare laugh. But it really was too funny to not at least blog about it! I just hope he doesn't use that potty mouth at day care!
